Luray Caverns

Dennis had never seen stalactites or stalagmites except in photos. I'd been fascinating by spelunking stories in my elementary school reading texts. In the afternoon we descended from Shenandoah National Park to tour Luray Caverns. While waiting for our tour, we found some great deals in the gift shop and bought quality T-shirts and sweatshirts that became favorites.

The caverns are privately owned. The highlight was an underground organ. A musician years ago tapped stalactite after stalactite until he found those that resounded with perfect pitch, then hooked them up to a unique organ, dubbed the "stalagpipe organ." That's the music playing in the background of this video.
